  • Check on available dates with the registrar if you would like a civil wedding – Find your local Registry Office
  • Book wedding ceremony venue
  • Book wedding reception venue
  • Book your honeymoon suite
  • Book your honeymoon
  • Order and post your wedding invitations
  • Buy/hire wedding/ bridesmaid dresses
  • Order formal groom/ushers/best man/father of the bride and father of the groom attire

  • Book wedding cars
  • Book flowers
  • Select food and beverage for wedding breakfast and evening buffet
  • Prepare table plan and place settings for the reception venue
  • Buy presents for bridesmaids/bestman
  • Buy favours for the wedding breakfast tables
  • Prepare speeches
  • And somewhere in between enjoy your hen and stag party – organised by your chief bridesmaid or best man


Wedding Etiquette

Although tradition and etiquette can add to the glamour of your day it is your day and you may have different ideas for your reception.

Toasts And Speeches

These would normally take place at the end of the meal and would accompany the cutting and distribution of the wedding cake.

Order of Proceedings

  • The Bride and Bridegroom cut the cake.
  • Toast to “The Bride and Bridegroom”. This is normally proposed by the
  • Bride’s father or a close relative or friend of the family.
  • Toast to “The Bridesmaids”. This is always proposed by the Bridegroom following his response to the first toast.
  • The Best Man would then respond to the Bridegroom’s speech on behalf of the Bridesmaids.
